"I was disappointed with my experience at Butcher Block. The salmon I ordered was tasteless and served without sauce. The vegetables were overly wet. I spoke with a mature female server who did not offer us dessert but instead suggested another main course, which I declined as I had already eaten the disappointing salmon. The price of $39 for the salmon was outrageously expensive. I asked the waitress for lemon for my fish, but she forgot about it until bringing the check. My grandson ordered the duck for $49, but it was unrecognizable in the sauce and there was too much sauce, making it hard to taste the duck without scraping the sauce off. My wife's beef back rib was overwhelmed by its pun...

My steak was fatty and lots of gristle. I was surprised because it has been excellent in the past

The food at this restaurant is excellent. The kosher lamb chops and matzo ball soup are delicious, and all of the dishes are wonderful.

easy to make reservations seated promptly took awhile to give our orders; took even longer to get our food; they forgot our appetizers and then we canceled one appetizer and the other came during dinner; after finishing dinner, it took awhile to get our check; the food was good but the delays and mistakes were bothersome

"Decent at best. That’s all really. It is very noisy- by design. Look up and you’ll see why. The ceiling is designed to carry the noise from the bar throughout the restaurant. And honestly I don’t care to listen to the bumpin music they’re playing at the bar when we’re at our booth 50+ feet away. It is also very dim. Extremely poor lighting, according to our waitress (who was very nice) this is also by design because other diners have made comment about this too and she said she’s mentioned it and the feedback she gets is “it creates the ambience.” Yeah okay…… “ambience.” The food is decent at best. Caesar salad was pretty good. But what is up with the streak being doused in butter? There was a pool of butter on my plate around my steak. Is the lighting dim in the kitchen too? Can the chefs not see what they’re doing? All in all, New York Prime is not any better than Morton’s or The Capital Grille. In fact, we probably should have gone to one of those two. There’s nothing New York about this restaurant at all. After returning home we decided to check out New York Prime’s website and read their menu story about how “New York Prime is a different kind of steakhouse.” If you ever want a laugh, read that. You’ll tear up, it’s hilarious. Proprietors seem very full of themselves! Anyway, we were very unimpressed, will definitely not be returning."
