"Went to Echigo last year, only decided to write my thoughts. I suspect people like this place because the price for quality is quite reasonable. We've made Omakase, and some of us still have something Nigiri. The fish was very fresh, very nice. The rice was too warm – hot as it cooks the fish. The temperature of the rice should be simple-warm so it is pleasant, not so damn hot, so you feel as you eat it better quickly before the fish chefs. The university I served was bad! I had to send it back. There was too much Mayo in the crab. There was a headache."

Some of the best bang for your buck if you love an omakase. The fish is very fresh and you do get some interesting selection, not just a generic maguro, sake, hamachi type thing. Eight pieces hand roll was $40 very good deal.

Excellent. I was married to a Japanese photographer and was in different cities/country in Japan for extended period and lived in NYC, trying many Japanese restaurants. The daily special and 'skipjack ' fish was exquisite. What a find. Not fancy, but if you care about the food and very good service, you won 't be disappointed.

Went there for dinner a few weeks ago. The reason I have no photos to share was because we were too mindblown by the great food and too busy to devour it. My daughter (who doesn't eat fish) devoured 4 or 5 cucumber rolls and declared it was the best food she ever ate. Me and my wife were even more impressed by the phenomenal sushi!
