"If you don't know Punta Gorda, this place can be hard to find because it is located on an itty-bitty side street just a few minutes walk from the courthouse. I had a reub and onion rings. They used the right cut of beef (a must for a good recubation in my opinion), but I think they flushed the sauerkraut in water and neglected to squeeze out the entire liquid from it. This made for a somewhat tasteless soggy sandwich. The onion rings were super delicious, but they were very, very fat. I've eaten most of them, even though I gave my hungry Pooch a quarter of them. People there were as friendly as they could be. Some tables sit outside the restaurant for the kitchen with frescoes. Unfortunatel...

I had a delicious Cuban sandwich and tomato soup at this restaurant. Although it may seem a bit unassuming, the food was outstanding and I will definitely return. I just wish they stayed open a bit later!

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! It was the first real meal of our honeymoon, and we were extremely pleased with the delicious sandwiches and excellent service. The staff was friendly and attentive. We will definitely try to visit again if we have the opportunity.

This place is a real jewel. Your meatball Sub is the best I ever had. The soups are house from scratches and are amazing. It is a small place that offers local businesses, workers and others with takeout for lunch. You can eat there with 2 tables inside and a few tables outside. 10:00 to 22:30. No breakfast or dinner. The portions are gigantic. I ate my half lunch and was filled and the rest ate for dinner.

"I have been to Carmelo's many times and usually love my meal and can't wait to go back. Tonight was a different story. My boyfriend and I made a reservation at Carmelo's to celebrate our anniversary as it's usually one of our favorite places. Tonight it took a very long time for us to get our drinks, my boyfriend asked for lemon for his water that he had never received. We then got our appetizer after a little while of waiting, which was fine. After we saw tables around us who were seated after us receiving their bread, we then had asked for ours because we never received it. After maybe a little over an hour of being at the restaurant we got our food. I got the shrimp and scallop limoncello, which I have gotten many times there. It had diced tomatoes in it that were uncooked (along with the usual sun dried tomatoes) and this wasn't something that was changed on the menu, if it was I would have asked for it to be left out of the dish. The sauce also seemed to be extremely watery tonight. Eventually our waiter boxed up our food and asked if we wanted dessert, we got one and asked for it to be for to go and for the check. At this point we have been here for an hour and a half. He brings the check and we put the card immediately in as we are sick of sitting outside and waiting. The waiter proceeded to take the bill and talk to the table next to us for over 10 minutes with our bill in hand. No exaggeration. Just five minutes short of being at our table for 2 hours is when we finally were able to leave, as we had a 7pm reservation. Maybe this was an off night for Carmelo's, I really hope it's not the new normal here, and I may just be exceptionally frustrated as we had sat there waiting for a lot longer than we had ever experienced at Carmelo's before. We saw many tables of two that arrived after us come and go before we had even received our check."

"John Ski's House of Breakfast and Lunch in Punta Gorda Florida gets a two thumb from this reviewer. First the food... I ordered the crab cake Benedikt with land potatoes and sausage sword. The big lump meat proved to be the best I had here in Florida. I can't stand crabcakes filled with bread. These were slightly fluffy and full of taste. The eggs were picked for perfection and the Hollandaise sauce whether it was a package or homemade that I could not say. It was good enough for me to think it was homemade. The sausage sword, although a little thick for my pleasure was bursting with taste. Coffee was amazingly strong what I love. And the water was just as important. We're very big, but not overwhelming. It's always nice to go home for a little snack. And that's exactly what I did. Service was fantastic. Attention and courtesy. My meal came out very quickly. But it didn't look awkward. The owner was on the property that worked the register and came and had a conversation about the Detroit Lions with me. I didn't tell him my real sight on her, but we had a bang. the place is a little hard to see if you do not know where to go or follow your GPS exactly. But if you miss it, you will miss a fabulous meal in a fabulous decor. Food and service speaks for itself in quantities of people. I say it can be very busy by about 10 o'clock if that helps."
