"Freddie knows food in the small town of Glennville, Georgia, after work to another restaurant, suggested by some friends, Blake's Fresh Local Dining. I came at 5:30 and the restaurant wasn't full yet, but that was soon to change, and fast. I sat immediately and since this was my first visit, I asked for the menu choices, supplements and desserts. My server was young and seemed somewhat nervous at first and was not very familiar with the peculiarities of eating. In my opinion, it is not often that it is asked tens of thousands of questions. I can also consider that she is new to the job, but no matter what, she answered my questions and was friendly, attentive and seemed more eager to ensure that I was happy with my culinary experience. Although Blake is sometimes called a steak house, it is much more than that. The menu has choices for every taste, from mouth to eclectic, with a good selection of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, sides and entrees. After a few moments of indecision I ordered the shrimps and the grits. While waiting for my order, I looked at the interior of the restaurant. It is very beautifully decorated, very pleasant to the eye, and immaculately clean. My server brought out two corn bread biscuit muffins with apple butter. Different, but so good. When my order arrived, I had to look at it briefly. It was presented beautifully, but did not look like other shrimps and goose shells I am familiar with. The grits part of the dish is actually a tomato and parmesan cake, sitting on a bed of devout spinach, top with Tasso ham and surrounded by large shrimps with a sherry cream sauce. I was impressed by the willingness of the cook to experiment with this rather common dish. The result is amazingly delicious. My only suggestion would be to add a little more from the sherry cream to the dish to soak properly into the cake. Speaking of granite cake, it was velvety smooth and damp, compliment of the shrimps quite beautiful. The Tasso ham added a little bit of bite and spices to the meal. I ordered the cheesecake for dessert. I rarely order cheesecake because I am not a big fan and most cheesecakes are not made in the house and as such ice cream are cold and a bit too hard. Blake cheesecake is made in the house, like the other desserts, according to my server. I'm gonna make a statement now. Blake's cheesecake was the best I've ever eaten anywhere. It was light and airy, with a texture of fine China silk. Embroidered with a strawberry and a few blueberries, the taste was simply exquisite! I enjoyed my meal in Blake's and the inhabitants of Glennville and surroundings do not need to drive miles and miles to experience a good restaurant of this kind. Now it's right on the street!"
