"I was reading some of the previous reviews and wanted to clear up some facts. First off Roland's had been in its current building which used to be a VFW club, for at least 15 years. They are family run business that focuses on quality and quantity. If you are looking for a quick dinner, this is not the place for you. We go here every other month or so for dinner sometimes just the 2 of us sometimes with a group and every time it is on a Saturday for the prime rib. We always call ahead and ask them to hold us as many as we need. This is the only day they make it and it is second to none in Pittsburgh. First off, the prime rib is enough to last one person 3 meals. It is roughly 3 to 4 inches...

Great food, so-so atmosphere. The food is great. I'd rate it better than other Italian restaurants in the area in terms of the quality of the food, but if you're looking for ambience and nice decor, this isn't the place to go. Sometimes the service is a bit slow, but the quality of the food makes up for it. I only eat here when I'm not in a hurry.

Great food. We have gone there for years, since they opened. If you leave hungry, I don't know why. Large portions, all cooked to order, so yea ... it takes longer than most. But is SO tasty! Sure the building is old, but that building and the one next to it, are over 100 years old. Were part of the Lincoln Hill Mines. Roland's was the old tavern and theater. The one next to it was the old company store. <br/ <br/ Like all restaurants, there is a turn over in staff. But give the place, and the staff, a chance and the food will make you sing! Oh, and do visit on prime rib night. OMG to DIE for!!!

Do not go for the service or the atmosphere. The place is crumpling down around them and I do not know how this place passes inspection but let’s just be glad it does. The wait staff is horrible and the hostess is a joke. Seated at 7:00 got our drinks a 7:45 only because we started waiting on ourselves. Make no mistakes this place is a mess. But I loved the food. It was absolutely wonderful. I had an end cut prime rib and it was rare. 5 others had prime rib at my table and we all loved it. Roland even made me my own batch of Coconut ice cream. It was divine. If you can overlook the flaws of the restaurant and focus on Roland cooking this place is a big winner.

"incredibly disappointed! first we have this restaurant for a birthday dinner on other options based on their menu, but once we were there, the menu was not what they have on their website. specific entrees that drag us to aragosta were not at all in the menu. I know the website state menu items can change, they will react with the nationwide lack of products it is difficult to get deliveries, but seriously if their printed menus are up to date their online menu should also be because guess what? there is no printing involved! the height of the wee that was available, again, weeping on the online menu were not on the printed weeping list, mediocre was best still the brandup was extreme. Thirdly, the time we waited for our food was unacceptable and when it arrived, it was cooked cold. the cabernet sauce with the chateabriand tasted no different than a glass shop bought brown engraving the duck, ordered medium rare, but served almost medium-heavy cold. the filet mignon was boiled on request, but hardly warm the Bernaise sauce tasted just like the packed powder mixture that it received in food business. nothing special or unique. next missing the service. our server apologised for the time it needed to get our wein later our meal times, and said that one of their server had to leave unexpectedly due to disease, but there were other support so that our water should have been refilled several times, but we had to ask for fillings they would help supply food before it became cold. all dinge considered the price we paid over $200 was not worth what we have the over 4 star rating is unnoticed. because we were not the only two in our party, we decided not to express our disappointment complaint at that time."
